Corporate Title: Chief Information Officer
Sector: Consumer Products
Location: U.K.

The Client:
A successful print and digital products start-up contacted us about finding a technically experienced leader with a background in the start-up world. They wanted an individual who could take on the role of CIO, overseeing their information technology functions which they planned to grow significantly. They expressed that they wanted a leader with experience from start-up environments, preferably working with both physical and digital products.

Our Service:
Knowing that our client was looking for someone who could help the company develop their scaling information technology strategy, while leading geographically dispersed management teams. Our search targeted other successful consumer goods companies who had multiple locations and a track record of rapid business growth. With a client that believed in giving candidates an opportunity to grow, we searched for technical leaders who were known for their skills and showed potential for taking on a bigger role. We located a few great candidates using our industry experience and personal connections and multiple interviews followed, the final one with the client's CEO present.

The Outcome:
The client was impressed with the outcome of our Executive Search and ended up having to choose  between two equally competent candidates. They ended up appointing a leader who had previously led the development of a scalable, technically complex platform. The placement came from a fast-paced start-up environment and had previous experience in the retail industry. The new CIO has successfully taken the lead of the IT functions, scaling and managing the internal infrastructure while also offering technical leadership support connected to the company's manufacturing.
